Bobbie, Thanks for the reply. I'm not sure if I'm related to the WEMYSS of Greene Co, but I am from the William (1801 SC) and Rachel (1804 TN)WEEMS. Fannie (Frances), Edwin and Kate all died in 1859 from this epidemic. Frances was the mother, formerly Fances A. HATCH who married James WEMYSS (abt 1833 - ?) in 1853, Greene Co. There was another child, Fannie, but she was born and died in 1858. I found these records in Greensboro, county seat of Hale Co, and one time county seat of Greene Co. Breaks you up to see a family wiped out. I don't know what happened to James, but he married Frances' sister, Annie and moved to Sumner Co, TN. I think he joined his dad, Alexander there.

Alexander (abt 1812 - ?) married Louisa WRIGHT in 1832, Greene Co. James is the only kid I show. I think Alexander may be a younger brother of Eliza (1799-1863) who married Frederick PECK (1793-1846) same county abt 1820. There is also a Narcissa, who married Wm. SHAFFER (1824) in Greene Co. I don't show an Edwin PECK. Don't know where these WEMYSS came from, but have a notion that these two families (WEEMS / WEMYSS) may be related. There is some thought my WEEMS may come from the Hardy and Briton line, as they also came from Sumner Co, TN, and moved abt 1820-30 into Leake, Scott, Rankin, and Copiah counties, MS, as some of my line did abt 1855.
