Tupelo – Nellie Barnes Lindley, 82, died May 29, 2009, at her residence. A native of Hamilton, Ala., she was born Oct. 29, 1926, to Dewy Francis and Lydia McKay Weeks. She lived in Lee County most of her life. She worked for Lucky Star Industries for over 40 years and was a supervisor at the time of her retirement. She was active in the Belden Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Services were in the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with burial in Lee Memorial Park.
Survivors included one daughter, Shelia Barnes Holley (Larry) of Baton Rouge, La.; one granddaughter, Chad Holley (Clarie) of Los Angeles, Calif.; one grandson, Michael James Holley (Kathryn) of Nashville, Tenn.; great-grandchildren, Nate and Jack, and Harper and Kate; many sisters-in-law, nices and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Jim Edd Barnes; her second husband, Shelly Lindley; one son, Michael Edward Barnes; two sisters, Lula Clark Beaty and Joann Gable; and one brother, Oscar Weeks.
