Mortons in Moody and Heflin Alabama 1890-1954

My great-grandfather was CJ Morton and he was a Methodist minister for many years, once pastoring a church in Moody Crossroads, St. Clair County Alabama. CJ Morton was also fondly called Charley Morton by friends and family. Charley lived in Heflin, Alabama in his later years and he had a history of living in both Talladega and St. Clair counties his entire life.

Charley Morton's first wife, Sara Jane Morton, died of cancer in 1926. My grandmother, Pearl E. Morton, was one of the children of Charley and Sara Jane Morton.

I am trying to find the maiden name of Sara Jane Morton and I am also trying to find the link to her Tribe; some say she was Cherokee and others say she was Piqua Pawnee.

Thank you very much for any information you can supply and I appreciate it so much.
