From others who are searching for his family as well, his parents are -

James Mitchell 1790 - 1850
Jane Dorrah 1793 - ??

If you have access to Ancestry.com - click on the tab = Family Tree. Enter Asa Mitchell, b. KY and nothing else.

I cannot find Asa prior to 1870 in ALA.

I cannot find Mary Jane [Mitchell] Hughes anywhere in ALA.
