William Lee "Willie Lee" Rodgers
Still seeking to find the parents of our William (my husband's grandfather). We haven't been able to locate him prior to the 1917 WWI Draft Registration. However, Jean Brand has found marriage to Cordie in Oklahoma in 1914 (but no written document at this time).
Here is what we know:
1917 WWI Draft Registration:
Willie Lee Rodgers
DOB 3/26/1885
Occ: Picking cotton; Ringling, Jefferson Co, Ok
Married: Mrs. Cordie Rodgers
1920 Census - Spanish Fort, Montague, Texas
birthplace Texas
Father birthplace: Alabama
Mother birthplace: Texas
Living with wife Cordia and children: Flossie, Ida and Zella.
1925 Death Certificate:
Name William H Rogers/Rodgers (both spellings are listed on death cert. We know the H was in error - poor writing of the person completing the form as well as we knew the death year, location and cause of death - plus wife name Cordie)
Issued Crowell, Texas
Died 11/18/1925
DOB 3/26/1883 (2 year difference from WWI Registration Card)
Died of Typhoid Fever
Wife: Mrs. Cordie Rodgers
Living in Gilliland, Texas
Any thoughts??
