Hi Stephen,
Eli Godwin m. Cyntha Peacock 02 Feb 1860 (bk 4 pg 100)
Zachariah Bussey m. Cyntha K. Godwin 16 Apr 1865 (bk 5 pg 128)
Zachariah Bussey m. Sarah Jane McKee15 Dec 1853 (bk 2 pg 184)
[There is no Bussey on the 1850 census.]
1860 Pike Co. Census:
# 398. 407.Farmer ( 640/1500)
Bussy, Zachariah 46 m /GA
James 19 m /GA
Mary Ann 18 f/GA
Zachariah 4 m/AL
1870 Pike Census:(This is odd..see next door)
# 337 Farmer (000-400)
Godwin, Elias 57 M NC
Elizabeth (hk) 47 F NC
Mary J. 29 F AL
Martha 22 AL
Osborn 21 M AL
Wiley 13 M AL
William 11 M AL
# 338 Housekeeper (000-000)
Bussey, Cynthia 30 F AL
Godwin, Lont D. 8 M AL
Bussey, Emma 2 F AL
Tombs II book shows a burial for a Betsy Ann Godwin b. 1803 d. 1868.....I mention this only because it notes that Betsy Ann (Starling) Godwin was born "near Fair Bluff, Columbus Co. NC".I see that Elias is listed as NC born.Clue?Otherwise no Elias Godwin or any Bussey burials in either book. There are several other Godwins though (some more recent)
General Estate books don't show these families either. However there is a Wiley (Wyly) Godwin who died in 1849.....reading it.....he excluded his brothers and sisters essentially 'cut' from his will (stating to give them "$5 or the smallest amount that would exclude them".....giving the bal to John R. Smith.Within this...a Sister came forth (Rhoda Beaman) who petitioned the court on behalf of nieces and nephews of Wileys' Brother "William of Dale County, AL".Clue?
