I am grasping at straws with this message. My grgrandfather, Alberry Wasson, was born in 1805 - his mother's fist name was Leanna. In the 1880 census he said that his father was born in Tennessee and his mother in Virginia. I realized a few years ago that his father must have been born in the part of N.C. that later became Tenn. because Tenn. didn't become a state until 1796. His father would have been 9 yrs. old. As he said that his mother was born in Va., could she have named her first child with her last name? So far, none of the Wassons have been able to solve this conundrum. Can any Alberrys out there help me?
