Sr. Cecile Albert, 98, formerly known as Sr. M. Reine, died Saturday, Oct. 19, 2002, at Mount Merici Convent in the 60th year of her religious profession.

Sr. Cecile was born Dec. 21, 1903, in St. Hilaire, New Brunswick, Canada, the daughter of the late Emile Albert and Aurore (Michaud) Albert.

She entered the Ursuline Novitiate in Waterville, Aug. 28, 1939, and made her religious profession April 7, 1942. She received her bachelor's degree from St. Joseph College in North Windham. She taught in some of our Ursuline schools in Maine, St. Francis and Notre Dame in Waterville, St. Ignatius and Holy Family in Sanford, Lewiston, and in Dedham, Mass. She also had a degree as a registered nurse from Mount Auburn in Cambridge, Mass. Besides teaching she exercised the ministry of nursing at Mt. Merici Academy and gave many years of generous service in our infirmary. Sr. Cecile gave priority to her prayer life and especially these last years she always promised her prayerful intention to those who visited her.

She was predeceased by her parents, two brothers, Sylvio and George Albert, and a sister, Marie Queenie Albert.

Survivors include two nephews, Robert and Gerald Albert from Montreal, Canada, and a sister-in-law, Gisele Albert from Longueuil, Quebec.

Relatives and friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22, at Mount Merici Convent, 142 Western Ave., Waterville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, at the Mount Merici Chapel. Burial will follow in Mt. Merici Cemetery.
