Oliver David Curry married Mary Magdeline Albert in 1851 in Noble Ind.
They show up on the 1860 census in Elkhart, Noble county Ind. *Curry Oliver 37, Mary 24, Olive 8. 363-2001 William 6, Emma 3, Ida 1. 364-2001*

Mary was born in 1834 in Ohio according to notes I have from other family members.
I also show that her father's name was William and her mother's name Susanna.
According to 1880 census info. Mary stated her father was born in Ohio and her mother in Pennsylvania.

I find in 1844 William Albert is listed as a landowner in Noble County...

*Elkhart Township
Those who owned land in 1844: Isaac Arnold, William Albert, William Bradford, John F. Brothwell, Abraham Brown, James Boyd, Daniel P. Boner, Francis Brown, Moses Ball, John Bird, William Caldwell, Andrew Curry, ...*

As you notice there was an Andrew Curry who was also a landowner of the area.
Andrew on census answers states his father was born in Ireland but his mother was born in Delaware.
Oliver on the other hand states that his father was born in Ireland but that his mother was born in Pennsylvania.
This would seem to lend doubt that Andrew was the father of Oliver, because it tends to imply that perhaps Andrew was born in America.
Oliver was born in 1823 in Franklin County Pennsylvania according to his Civil War records.
Franklin County records of the time frame show that there was a Matthew Curry who in 1809 married a Isabel Fleming. I have not proved any relationship as of yet.

Here are all of the Curry's listed in the 1860 census for Noble County...

*1860 Noble County census

Curry Andrew 58, Elizabeth 53, John 17, Emeline 15, Jacob 10. 363-1996
Curry Elizabeth 18. 182-638
Curry Emily 3. 381-2118
Curry Margaret 22. 363-1998
Curry Oliver 37, Mary 24, Olive 8. 363-2001 William 6, Emma 3, Ida 1. 364-2001*

Interestingly enough is that in the 1850's Matthew Curry and Isabel can be found in Indiana, although not in Noble County. Isabel Curry died in 1860 in Indiana. Matthew died in 1870 in Hancock Illinois.
Further note can be taken that in 1873 Oliver Curry removed to Polk County Iowa.

I apologise for not doing the Albert's in the area and I will try to remember to do that.

The census data for 1880 is easily available on and the 1860 as well as 1870 census I have downloaded from USGENWEB.

The paragraph containing land owners in 1844 was downloaded from

There is a message on a message board on that states that Oliver recorded that his marriage was performed by a Rev. A. Curry.

I have attempted to e-mail the author of that message with no success.

This is all of the information I currently have on William Albert family.

Any additional information is most welcome.
