Hi, I am researching some families that connect to the Aldays in Decatur Co GA, and I read these posts with interest. Rhoda Berry was probably a Cheraw or Lumbee Indian from NC, there was a mass migration from the eastern Carolinas and Va down into the Gulf states in the early 1800's by Indians from these areas. Berry is a well-known and common name among the Lumbee/Cheraw and other eastern Carolina Indian tribes. You all might want to check this avenue of research out, because "Cherokee" was kind of a catch-all name for Southeastern Indians back in the late 1800's and early 1900's, for a variety of reasons. Hope this is helpful to someone.
