This spelling of Aldhizer is documented as far as the late 1700's or when they came into America. It meant "Old House." There were variations only when the court house mispelled it. John br. in 1830 and William br. in 1862 were born in Virginia and died in Virginia. They were in Goochland Co, Louisa and Augusta Counties. Their father was Joseph Aldhizer br. in Va. ca. 180- or 4 in Waynesboro,Va. They never lived in Ohio.We have the census and family's. We just are looking for the extended familys now.Thank you for the spelling of Althauser, I will look under it in all the places I have looked before. We have found it to be spelled Alhyser before also.
