Brenda,
I'm really interested in the ALEWINE family that you listed under Joseph. The use of the middle name of WILSON in your posting has me curious.
I've been stymied on where the middle name of ALEWINE came into the family of John Wilson CARROLL (b. ca. 1793, possibly in Rutherford Co., NC, d. 1862 in Edmonson Co., KY).He md. Frances FRANKLIN (b. ca. 1800, d. 1887) in Spartanburg Co., NC in 1814 (they eloped because she was only 14 yrs. old).
They named their first child Elijah Alewine CARROLL and I've been trying for eons to find out where that middle name came from.I'm familiar with the family of the immigrant John George GENEWYN/ALEWINE who came to SC ca. 1752.
Do you have anything on this George's son Michael's family and grandchildren?I know that Michael's son John had a son named Elijah ALEWINE (b. 1792 in SC) and wonder if the names Elijah and ALEWINE could have come down through John's family.Do you have anything on John's family that might connect to either a CARROLL, FRANKLIN or WILSON family?
