J.K. Alexander was 44 (born 1836) at the time of the 1880 census. He had been born in North Carolina where both his father and mother had been born likewise. His wife was Eliza Alexander (age 36, born 1844) a native Tennesean as were her parents. Their children are listed as: Jennie E. Alexander, daughter, age 12 (born 1868), doing housework. Amus E. Alexander, son, age 10 (born 1870), works on farm. Addie H. Alexander, daughter, age 8 (born 1872) Maude M. Alexander, daughter, age 6 (born 1874) Id. F. Alexander, daughter, age 4 (born 1876) Anna H. Alexander, daughter, age 2 (born 1888) Amos Alexander (born 1870) apears in the Tennessee census for 1910 in the eighth district, Hickman County Census at age 40. Here he states the following: Married (Spouse Anna, age 29), have been married for 1/2 year at time of record (census recorded April 28, 1910) He was Born in Tennessee, his father was born in North Carolina. He is a farmer and owns the farm he works on free and clear of mortgage. Both he and his wife can read and write. She has recorded under occupation "none", which is odd as most other females list "housewife", "school" or some other form of occupation at the time. Immediatly above his entry is Eliza Alexander, a female age 65. She lives with her daughter Eufala(sp?), age 24. While not expressly indicated the immediate proximity would seem to indicate a relation between the families. I am assuming this is his mother listed in the 1880 census. Eliza lists her occupation as teaching and at a public school. She also owns her property free and clear of mortgage. She was born and raised in Tennessee, as was her daughter (Eufala). Eufala's father is also from Tennessee, indicating that if Eufala and Amos are brothers and sisters then they are from differring fathers. The 1920 census finds Amos E. Alexander at age 50, now living in Gibson County in the 20th district. He now owns his home but it is mortgaged. Anna (now age 39) is still his wife. He dscribes his profession as a General Farmer working on his own account. Text searches for Eufala and Eliza Alexander yeild nothing in the 1920 census. I am looking for any decendants or ancestors of this line. ANY help greatly appreciated! Notify Administrator about this message?
