He owned "Whitehall" that went to his eldest son, William, who lost it when he spent his inheritance on supplies as Capt. in Rev War expecting it to be returned to him but never was.
The will of Alexander styles him as a cordwainer or shoemaker but he served his community as an advisor or counsellor at law per many documents. Alexander's will was dated 7th day of Sept. 1776 at Greenwich Twp in Sussex Co NJ. Proved 30th Oct 1776.

I am not related to the Alkire's. I noticed that no one was mentioning the White family on this site and was concerned that the relationship was not commonly known.

I have listed enough information to help those interested in continuing the research of their individual lines.

Margaret White, daughter of Alexander and Mary {Clifford] White, was born in Sussex Co NJ August 11, 1780. In the year 1797, her father sold his land in Hardy Co [West} Virginia and moved his family to what is now Lewis Co WV, settling near where Jackson's Mill now stands [1939]. There she married in Sept 1800 to Adam ALKIRE [recorded in Harrison Co Marriage Book 1, page 400] The following marriage permit was addressed to Mr. Benjamin Wilson, County Clerk, by the girl's father:
"Sir: please to let Adam Alkire have lisons to marry my daughter, Margaret White, for I am willing for him to be my son in law, and know nothing against him, so doing you will oblige me".
Signed; Alexander White
September the 25th day 1800
Adam and Emanuel Alkire are thought to have been brothers. Adam Alkire was born April 11, 1777, presumably in what is now Lewis Co West Virginia. At least his parents, JOHN and CHRISTENA [McCann] ALKIRE owned land located on the waters of Hacker's Creek [now Lewis Co, W.VA], as shown on a deed dated in 1790 and of record in Harrison Co WV, Deed Book 1, page 114.
John Alkire was born about the year 1750, and died in 1828, and his wife, Christena, was born in 1752, and died before 1828.
John Alkire was a son of Almonius [born 1730, died before 1800] and LYDIA [PATTON] Alkire. They married in 1751. Almonius Alkire was the son of Almonius Alkire Sr. who married at Moorefield, [West] Virginia in 1720, Mary Crayman.
The present [1939]families of Alkires in central West Virginia and in the vicinity of Franklin and adjoining counties, Ohio, are descendants of this family of Alkires.

They were natives of Holland in 1626. Various spellings of the name are found in records such "Algire", "Alguire", " Alquire" and so on.

About the year 1828, Adam Alkire moved his family from Lewis Co [West] Virginia to Franklin Co, Ohio and settled on Big Run. He also seems to have lived a few years in Wood Co [West] VA [see Will Book 1, page 42] where is recorded his bond as constable for two years dated 1 July, 1805. His wife evidently died prior to 1850 as her name was not listed with the family on the Federal Census records for that year. Their children were;
1. John White Alkire b Oct 12, 1819
2. Alexander Alkire [died without issue]
3. Weeden Alkire [died without issue]
4. Mary Alkire married to Hugh Henry
5. Catherine Alkire born ca 1828.
