Alkier/Oxer/Auxier family
Posted by: John Wells Date: July 12, 2000 at 14:00:41

I am searching for the family of Michael Axer/Oxer who lived in Hampshire Co., (W)VA c.1757 on South Branch. He moved to Russell/Washington Co., VA just before 1780 and died there in that year. He left sons including Abraham, George, Simon, Samuel. The family later was known by "Auxier." Family tradition has it that Michael Axer married Martha Hornbeck. I suspect that my Michael was actually Michael "Alkier." Is the name prnounced ALL-KEER? Help!
