I don't know if we have the same decendants, but I have hit the US/Canada brick wall. My GG grandfather was Joseph Alaire (or Alarie) b. 1826 Canada married Almira LaPlante b. 1826 Canada in 1852 in Vermont. Our family name was anglosized in the 1850's to Ellery in New Braintree, MA. All of the "Ellery's" settled in the Brookfields of MA.
