Lease from Jn. Curly to Jn. and Bozel Alair made Jan. 1st 1828.
Rent received on the within up to this date Jan. 31st, 1833 forty six Bushels of Wheat.

This Indenture Made the twentieth of October in the Year of Our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred And Twenty Eight at Grand River in the County of Haldimand, District of Niagara And Province of Upper Canada.

Between John Curly of the Grand River aforesaid Yeoman of the first part and John Alaire and Bosele Alair of the Second part.

Witnesseth that the Said party of the first part for and in Consideration of the Yearly Rent - Covenant & agreement herein after Mentioned and Contained of the part of the Said party of the Second part and their Heirs to be paid observed and performed.

Hath demised Leased unto the said party of the second part their Heirs all that certain pre pard or tract of Land Situate Lying and being on the Grand River Aforesaid Bounded by Benjamin Alairs farm up the River to the Creek on the Said farm of John & Bosele Alair and running to the farm of Said John Curly up the Creek to the Bridge then running North.

To have and to hold the Said demised premises with the apprintenance unto the Said party of the Second part & their Heirs for and during and until the full end and term of Twenty One Years fully to be complete & ended provided that the said John Curly of the first part be allowed to Hold His Claim or tract of Land which he Now holds. By the wish and advice of the Six Nations Otherwise Said Indenture or Lease is Null and Void.

Yeilding and paying yearly and every year during the continuance of this Lease unto the said party of the first part and his Heirs the first year Twenty Bushels Merchantable Wheat & the remaining Twenty Years Twelve Bushels Merchantable Wheat to be paid Yearly - Namely first January in every Year the Said party of the Second part Not to Clear of Timber above One Mile and Not to dispose of Timber on any part of Said tract of Land except what is on the Land the aforesaid parties shall fairly Clear and the aforesaid Second party their Heirs further Bind themselves if the aforesaid yearly rents be not yearly paid as aforesaid mentioned This Indenture Shall be Null And Void.

In Witness Whereof the Said parties have hereunto Set their Hands & Seal this day and year first above mentioned        John Curly
