George Allardice, Crofter at Mossgerrie Farm, Aberdour Aberdeen
George Allardice, Crofter of Mossgerrie Farm Aberdour Aberdeen 1841 census.
In the 1841 census for Mossgerrie, Mary Ross is shown as a servant in the household of George Allardice a crofter aged 50.The only other person in the household is an unconnected boy labourer.William Barron who Mary married in Sept 1841 is a labourer on another farm in the area.I have discovered a listing in Scottish documents stating that William (farmer) died intestate in 1877 leaving his wife Mary in Mossgerrie.
The 1881 census for Mossgerrie shows that Alexander, one of their sons, has taken over as farmer and his mother and sister Ann are living with him as well as a niece.
I would be particularly interested to learn how William came into ownership of Mossgerrie and what became of George Allardice. It is interesting to note that William and Mary's second child is named for him.I would also very much like to find out what became of George Allardyce Barron. Can anyone provide any information?
