Allardyce/Alardyce & James Tap
Hi - an Allardyce group. Excellent! May I ask for some help?
Bit of a long shot, this. I'm researching the Topp family, a nice long line of George Topps who suddenly become a James Tap (LDS suggests christening c. 25/12/1755)... and who later married a Christian Allardyce/Alardyce (other relatives are searching and this is primarily their information... so no clues on the spelling!). Interestingly, Christian's grandson George Topp's christening was witnessed by a William Allardyce (in July 1831)and a William Moir.
I've no idea if they're connected, and I'm a bit edgy about James Tap being linked to the other Topps but the two Allardyce names make it attractive (and others made the link).
Um, so... given the vast numbers of Williams and Christians, do these names leap out at anyone? George Topp's christening/baptism was in Newmachar, Aberdeenshire, Scotland (no info on James Tap/Christian' location. Sorry.) Searching Scots Origins has only confused me!
Help!
