re also alligood dna

hi

my grandmother was an alligood and this is her alligood line, to follow:

minnie bell alligood/ samuel caswell dykes; hardy francis alligood/ nancy rachel register; david alligood/ nancy mullis; hillary alligood, II,/ 2nd wife, matilda fry; hillary alligood, I/ dorcas; richard alligood/ unknown; richard alligood/ elizabeth; thomas alligood/ mary field, daughter(?) of henry field.

the absolutely only way we are ever going to know if we are related to elias legarde and/ or some other ellegood/ allgood, etc, is for a male alligood to do a dna test.

the fact that a elias legarde existed is not the issue here but rather whether we are related to him and we descend from him and, again, this can be proven or not per dna.

if a number of us went in together to help pay for such a test for a male alligood in our alligood family, then, it would not cost any of us a lot to do this and i would be very glad to contribute to the cost of this test.

my maiden name is harris and i have worked on our harris line and family for over 30 years and i asked my brother, david harris, to participate in the harris dna test for me in order to confirm my research and it did.

the test, as i am sure most of you may know, is a very simple one and requires the scraping of the inside of ones cheek with a little plastic comb, which by no means hurts or is the least bit painful, and you do this several times in order to get a good and accurate dna sample.

the test gives very clear and easy instructions of what to do.

the other thing you should do is to sign the release form saying that you agree for others to see your results.

what is the point in doing the test if you do not share your results with others which, again, not only helps you but others also to learn and to confirm more.

speaking of seeing results, we in our harris dna group and most other of the dna groups are using family tree dna and this is strictly for genealogy and for no other reasons!

i think it would be very neat if we were related to and are descendants of elias legarde but i would really like to know this for sure and would be actually glad for whoever we descend from-----

but this is what i would really like to know for sure.

this is something that is not just really important for you and all of us who are alligood descendants and part of our alligood family and for our own children, but also for our future generations.

again, the only way we are going to know for sure whether we are related to and are descendants of elias legarde is through a ydna test and which can only be done by a male alligood descendant.

so, please, won't one of you agree to do the test?

best wishes to all and would welcome futher comments and/ or discussion.

sincerely,
belva harris cauthen
