Dear Dotte

I have just started trying to find out about the Allis name. My great-great-grandmother Anna Maria Williams may have been in the Allis line. We suspect so because she and her husband Jacob Ruth (born) 1840 named their first daughter "Martha Allis" Ruth (after a maternal grandmother?) and there is no one named Martha or Allis on the Ruth side. They lived in Stroudsburg, PA, but we suspect Anna Maria's family may have been from Massachusetts, since other children has names like William Aster (Ruth), Edward Morton (Ruth), and John Allen (Ruth). I don't find these names in their region of PA. None are Ruth names. I would appreciate your Allis information. Jacob Ruth was a Civil War Vet and well-traveled. He may have met Anna Maria in his many travels, or been introduced by another soldier.
