Thomas Allore (Allard) was my uncle. I am the son of Charles Allore of Trenton, Ontario, a brother of Thomas. I am definitely interested in the letters from Thomas. I hope you have not given them away.
In 1999,"The Commonwealth War Graves Commision" inOttawa provided me with the following information:
Private Thomas Edward Allard - 172096 of the 19th Battalion, Canadian Infantry (1st Central Ontario Regiment) died on April 9, 1917 - the day the Canadians captured Vimy Ridge. His name is commemorated on a monument on the Zivy Crater, Thelus, France on Panel #1. It is approximately 2 miles from the Vimy Memorial.
I visited there in 1999 and found the memorial - a beatiful, small, well kept site. I have some phtographs if you are interested. A truly moving experience.
I have more information if you are interested.
How do I get in touch with you ?
