Hello Bea - we talked many years ago. I am descended through David Almas (b. 1840 - m. Jane Newman).

My research indicates the following:
Adam Bowman Jr. was 1st married to Eliza Ann Burtch - and they were the parents of David, Mary Jane, Harris Emmanuel, Anne Maria, Margaret, Elizabeth, and Eliza Ann.

Eliza was b. in 1821 and d. 16 Jul. 1853 - buried @ Mt. Carmel Cem., Moulton Twp., Haldimand Co., ON.

After her death, Adam married Mary Ellen Bird (who was b. in England & d. 1860, Townsend Twp., Norfolk Co., ON; buried @ Ch of Ascension, Hamilton, ON as is Adam Bowman Jr.) They had issue: Philip (b. ca 1852 - perhaps son of 1st wife who died in childbirth?), Lucinda (1858-12 Apr. 1932 - some of this info is from her in her hand-writing. She also attested that Christian Almas (the original, b. 1752) was b. in Strasbourg, though I have also seen b. as Stuttgart - not Brunswick as some attest; he fought with Brunswick troops under Von Riedesel) and Albert Edward (b. 28 Dec. 1860

Adam resided in Beverly Twp. near Christies' Corners: 1833-34. He is 27 in the 1851 Census of Norfolk Co. (Townsend Twp.)

I have an excellent portrait of Adam Bowman Almas Jr., handed down from my aunt Hazel Almas (grand-daughter of David Almas, b. 1849)

Best regards
