I first posted a message here ten years ago regarding one of my ancestors who was named Wyatt Almond. There were various replies on him and his family for about four years here, until about 2003. However, the main question I am trying to resolve regarding Wyatt Almond remains unanswered. I'm trying to find out who his parents were. ANY help on this would be sincerely appreciated.
The following is what (briefly) is known about Wyatt Almond
Born 1777 - presumably in Virginia (perhaps in Louisa County)
Died July 1849 in Warren County, Kentucky (According to the 1850 Mortality records of Warren County, Kentucky)
Married on October 20, 1808, in Louisa County, VA., to Susanna Almond Ware (b. June 23, 1790 in Louisa Co., VA., d. Aug. 12, 1865 in Swan Twp., Warren Co., IL.) daughter of Malachi Ware & Elizabeth Brown.
Wyatt Almond was mentioned, briefly, in the book "Portrait & Biographical Album of Warren County, Illinois" (published in 1886) in the biography of one of his sons (William Spencer Almond) as follows: "Wyatt Almond, his father, was a man of superior abilities and education and was a soldier in the service of the United States in the War of 1812. He followed the profession of teacher in Kentucky and was a resident of that State after his removal there until the time of his death."
One source, a Claudia A. Chisholm, mentioned in an article in the Louisa County Historical Society Mazazine that Wyatt Almond was the son of Thomas Almond, JR., and Mary Sansum. However, I have been assured by descendants of those two that Mrs. Chisholm is simply incorrect about that.
