Looking for info on Rufus Almond in Georgia around 1913

My sister and I are trying to find out more information about our Almond ancestry.

Rufus Almond is my great-grandfather. He was in the Marietta, GA area around 1913 and 1914. The details are foggy but this is what my grandmother, Martha Prather Almond, told me before she passed away. (My grandfather passed away when I was in fifth grade, which was 1982).

My grandfather was Thomas C. Almond, born in August of 1914 to Mary Smith Murdock. She was married several times and has a few different last names. My grandfather was the only child she had with Rufus Almond. We are not sure if they were married, which was very risque in those days.

My grandmother said she was told Rufus had a "peg leg". He lost his real leg in an accident. He did come around and try to see my grandfather when he was a baby but for some reason, Mary Murdock would not let him and continually ran him off.

Mary Murdock passed away when my grandfather was only five-years-old and he was sent to live with an abusive uncle, who was Mary's brother, in Alabama. My grandfather ran away when he was fourteen and came back to Georgia.

I found some information on a Rufus Almond who lived around DeKalb County, GA. He was the son of Green Almond and Marth Jane Patsy Whitley Almond but I am not sure if this is the same Rufus.

If this is the same Rufus that you are related to, I would greatly appreciate any information you could provide me. Thank you in advance and have a Blessed day.
