yep, the name Nettie Allphin sounds familiar to me. My ggggrandmother's name was Burnetta Allphin. She was the first wife of Israel Dodge Allphin Sr. Last summer I met a distant cousin who was the grand neice of Aunt Nettie, daughter of Burnetta Collins Allphin. I also found at least a couple of Netties in a book published by the Clark County historical society called 100 years on the muddy. These Nettie Allphins were of Nevada, but it is possible that one could have relocated to NC, or your Nettie may have been named after mine. I don't think I can be of much help other than this, but at least you should try using the name Burnetta in future searches of your Nettie.
