I am descended from John Quincy Alphin born 23 Feb 1829 In Tenn. Died 26 Feb 1893, Grand Saline, Van Zandt Co.,TX. I found him living in Lake Charles,LA. 1870 census with wife, Nancy --?-- and children born in LC John M.,c1865,J Daniel,c 1867 then in 1880 his wife had died and he had George b. c 1871, Lydia Ann b. 1874, Mark P b.c 1876 and James Quincy b. 25 March 1878. He moved to TX in 1884. He served in CSA, TX Cav, Sgt. ( Ragsdale's Battn). Since he was born in Tenn and he named his children John, Daniel I am thinking he may be son of John Alphin who fought in 1812 in the Indian wars. I find him on the roster, First Regiment West Tennessee Militia in service of the United States 20 June 1814 to Jan 27,1815. Formed at Fayetteville,Lincoln Co. Tenn. Can anyone tell me who this John was descended from. I am trying to make a connection to His family and hopfully to our John Quincy Alphin. Mary
