Hello Kan Alvord-MillsThank you for your message. Your relative is the first generation Alexander Alvord. He married Mary Vore, daughter of Richard and Ann Vore in Windsor Connecticut Oct 29 1646. She died Northhampton, Mass prior to 1686. Res. Windsor, Conn. and Northampton Mass. They had 12 children. Footnote after the list of children: (Earlier data regarding Alexander Alvord is given in the preceding pages. The name henceforth will be spelled A-l-v-o-r-d which spelling seems to have been adopted after his removal to Northampton, Mass)
It was at a visit to the Ann Fyler House Windsor Locks where I read a paper that asked the question of whether Alexander Alvord came to America on the Mary & John in 1630 or not. I was intrigued and as I had planned a visit to Salt Lake City Genealogy Library to do some research, I delved into the Microfiche and that is where I found my clues which led to the theory. I highly recommend Samuel Morgans Alvord genealogy. My mother missed being in the book as she was born in 1909. If you know the names of male Alvords born before that time this genealogy will help you trace your family back to Alexander and his family. More than just births deaths and marriages, this book tells of occupations and events of our ancestors. There was a family copy, but I got my own copy from Higginson Book Company in Salem Mass.
Good luck with your searching!
