(This also follows up some earlier private email messages to Delano Alway.)
My connection is with the Always of southern Gloucestershire. According to family information, a George ALWAY emigrated to America in 1870, together with a James NEATE (b. 1847 Olveston GLS). Hannah ALWAY (George's sister?, b. 1852 Alveston GLS), together with Tracy SMITH of Thornbury GLS, followed in 1871. Reputedly, the two couples were married in a boat on New York harbour to avoid immigration difficulties. James and Hannh had two children, Agnes b. 1874 and James b. 1876, in the US (wherever Luzurn County is), and the Always one child. The Neates subsequently returned to England and had four further children, Minnie b.1878, Edith b. 1880, Frank b. 1883 and Amy b. 1884. I have contact with one of James Jr's descendants in England.
David Neate
