Amazeen DNA

Dear Amazeen relatives:

I persuaded a distant male cousin to take the paternal DNA (Y-DNA) test at FamilyTreeDNA. We are just getting the first results, and they are very interesting, in my opinion.

The Amazeen male line is not European. It most likely was originally an Arab family from the southern part of the Saudi Arabian peninsula.

So far, the paternal line haplogroup (line of male descent) has been identified as J1 (or as M267 by another coding system). We will be getting further results that will shed more light on the issue, and I will post anything else of interest.

If you enter the terms "haplogroup M267" into a search engine, you'll find more information.

In any event, John "the Greek" Amazeen was not a Greek, but an Arab or a Jew.
