I have a Sterling Amazeen born to William Amazeen and Lucretia Trefethen - no date of birth, but the parents married on Nov 13, 1831. In case you're wondering about the name Sterling, my husband's name is also Sterling. It is a family name that came from the Sterling surname.

Now....William Amazeen's FATHER (also William Amazeen)first married Jane Jones Amazeen on Apr 29, 1804. I have William Jr (your Sterling's father) listed under this marriage). William Sr married Frances Trefethen Sterling (widow of Henry Stirling)in Feb 1853, after Jane's death on Jul 24, 1852. My guess is Frances (Fannie) spent a lot of time raising young William, hence he named a son after her (albeit her maiden name was really Trefethen). I also know this is when the Sterlings and Amazeens intermingled a lot, as William Jrs younger sister, Clarissa, married Frances' (Fannie) son, James. In other words, they were step-siblings. They were my husband's great-great grandparents.

If I can be of any more help, let me know!
