Thanks for the information. Did the birth date come from the New Castle vital records? Is that where he was born?

I, too, show eight children: Mary (b. 1830), Joseph (1831), Alexander (1833), William Benjamin (1835), Luther (1837), Angeline (1840), Lydia (1842) and Clara (1847). Does this fit with your information?

Also, the 1860 and 1870 censuses show Anne (b. ca. 1841), Cate (ca. 1849), Arvillis (ca. 1851) and Ida (ca. 1853) living with the family. Do you have any idea who they were?
