Information on Dr Robert Ambrose (1855-1940) M.P.

I am about to embark on a MA course in Modern Irish history and I would to get any information possible on the above gentleman. He was a son of Michael Ambrose (Mikey the bank, who was one of the River Ambroses From Dunganville Ardagh Co Limerick). Robert was born in the nearby town of Newcastle West and reared in the family pub. He studied to be a doctor in Edinburgh and graduated in 1882. He was elected to be a Westminster MP for West Mayo in 1893 and served until 1910. He had at least 3 sons, one was a sheep farmer in Australia, another managed a tea farm in Indiaand another was a medical doctor in the USA
He was a great championship of the small farming and labouring classes in his home country and I feel his career deserves some study and possible recognition
On another level my interest is fuelled by the fact that my great gran mother was Margaret Ambrose, his first cousin. I would greatle appreciate any information on anything relating to this mans life and his career
