I don't know if this will be helpful or not, but I thought I'd give it a try. I'm looking for information on my great grandfather, Charles Everett Ambrose (b. 26 Nov 1901, in Wisconsin; d. 12 May 1981, in California). His father was William H. Ambrose. His mother was Anna M. Trunkhill. I have the family tracked from Charles's birth of living in Wisconsin from 1901 to at least 1910. Then in from 1915 through at least 1930, living in Des Moines, Iowa. Charles had three siblings, Lillian, Violet and Hazel; and one brother, William.
Charles had a child with Marguerite Nichols in Iowa in 1923. It's my understanding that they were married for a very short period of time, but for some reason the marriage was annulled, and Marguerite and her child Eleanor continued to use the surname Ambrose even after Charles had apparently remarried. According the 1930 census, I have Charles living in Des Moines, Iowa with his wife, Alice C. Ambrose, maiden name unknown. They had been married for 4 years according to the 1930 census. Somewhere along the way Marguerite stopped using the surname Ambrose and switched back to her maiden name Nichols. Their child Eleanor continued to use the surname Ambrose until Eleanor became married and took on her husband's last name, Jones.
After that the trail goes cold and I have Charles listed as having died in Alhambra, Los Angeles County, California in 1981. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
