This John Ashmore(b1760 MD) is in my direct line back to the John Ashmore(b1611 Eng) who was a passenger on the Ark and the Dove ships sailing from England to the Maryland Colony in 1634. He moved with his parents to SC, finally settling in the Quaker settlement of Wrightsboro in GA.
Trying to prove that when John was 16 in 1776 he joined in the fight for independence and continued in the service until 1781. In 1785 & 1787 he received land grants in Wilkes Co., GA. In 1793 he's listed as a member of the Wilkes County Militia. He marries around this time (need wife's name) and has a son, William Ashmore b@1800 who marries Frances Allen in 1819 in Jasper, Co., GA.
Please help me prove his Revolutionary War experience and I have much to share on this Ashmore line. Thanks, Lee
