Neither man is listed in surviving rolls of the Continental regiments from NY.

Most NY Revolutionary War records were destroyed in a fire in the State Library in 1919.

There is no place just called 'Columbia' in NY now. Columbia County was created from Albany County in 1786. Fishkill is in Dutchess County.

A Nicholas Hoffman was listed in a ca. 1778 list in the 6th Dutchess Co. Militia.

A Johann Nicoll Hoffman was listed in a ca. 1778 list in the 8th Albany Co. Militia.

There is no way to know where exactly each man lived.

There is no listing for a Conrad.

All able-bodied free white males were obligated to be available for militia duty, including turning out for regular drills and nose-counting. Militia rosters do not necessarily indicate active duty.

You may be able to find more information by personal research in the NY State Library and local Historical Societies.
