I am looking for information on the General Wadsworth mentioned below. I am NOT a desc of him, am only trying to find out where his home was. There are two articles relating to my Swift family which mention him: One is a bio in "Pioneers of Northern Michigan" on Robinson Swift, which reads, in part, "his [referring to Robinson's] native homestead having been at one time the home of General Wadsworth famous in Revolutionary war annals." The other is from "Grace Hooper's Pioneer Notes" which states "The Scotch-Irish home of Levi Swift in New England had once been the home of General Wadsworth of Revolutionary fame." Robinson was the son of Levi Swift b1787 in New Hampshire. Levi spent some time in Vermont before migrating west through NY. His son Robinson, and dau, my gggmother Betsey Swift Harrington, moved on to Michigan. I am hoping that finding where the "General Wadsworth" mentioned above lived will give me a clue as to where Levi was born and spent his childhood. The only Wadsworth of Revolutionary note I have come across so far is Jeremiah Wadsworth, who was a Colonel. However, in the National Gen. Society Quarterly, Vol. 21, concerning Rev. War Pension Applications, for Ebenezer Reed, I found the following: "Isaac Benham, of Chittenden Co. VT Nov. 19, 1853, testifies that he was b. Oct 1760 & was a cousin of Ebenezer Reed; they served together for 2 mos. in 1776 in a Co. of Light Horse under Capt. Sheldon. They enlisted, Mch. 1777, under Capt. Saml. Tibballs, GEN. WADSWORTH, as teamsters. Ebenezer Reed was his wife's brother." Does anyone know who this General Wadsworth is? Is he the same as the Colonel Jeremiah Wadsworth of CT? Or related? Any help would be appreciated. Melanie Morris Sussner Notify Administrator about this message?
