.(1)At the Heralds visitation of Devon and Cornwall in 1620, pedigrees of some twelve generation were recorded showing two branches of the Hatch Family of wolley, continued from the entries made at the earlier visitation The senior line is recorded down to Arthur HATCH of aller [ a hamlet in southern Devon, near Newton abbot]. with his eight children, and a cousin at Chittlehampton [in north Devon, a few miles south-east of Barnstaple]. The junior line is Cornwall and his wife Constance COURTNEY [ I have not established the where-abouts of this place]. The arms GULES TWO DEMI-LIONS PASSANT QUARDANT or were repeated [with quarterings].(2) A pedigree on record here continues the line of THOMAS HATCH of anlen [possibly Aller] in Devonshire and his wife ann blewt[of the senior branch entered at the 1620 visitation, see number 1 above]. Their desendant Robert HATCH of Satterleigh, Devon, died in 1699 without male issue, and his daughters were therefore his heiresses. The third daughter Christian [born 1684] married firstly John DAKE of barnstaple, and some DRAKE descendants are recorded.[College Of Arms ms. Norfolk 13/331.
