Hi,
Re Benjamin C Morris: I just pulled the Company K Blount County 19th Alabama Infantry record from Robin Sterling's Blount County site. It is from the microfilmed Compiled Confederate Service Records with supplementary info from other sources on record. (You can find it on Google.com by typing in 19th Alabama Infantry)

In this record, it states that Benjamin C Morris died 17 Dec 1891 and was buried in New Hope Cemetery #2 near Holly Pond, Cullman County, Alabama. I looked the cemetary index up on the internet and Benjamin Morris is listed. Cullman County was created partly from Blount County so he probably never moved. Have not found Cariann's death record or burial site. Per the record, it was Leonard who was buried in Ozro Cemetery. Also, please note that the census has a typo re the second son's name. His correct name is Seborn Thomas Morris. He married Martha Ophelia Long in Texas and was buried at Maypearl, TX which is near the Ozro Cemetery. Seborn moved there in 1870. Two of the witnesses on his pension aplication were his sister, Mary Jackson, and his brother Leonard both of whom were living in Ellis County, Texas in Sept 1914. My husband is descended from Seborn. I am interested in any sources you have for your records and want to know more about Cariann's ancesters. Barbara Polk. Sent to me, Ron Bridges, via the internet on 1Sep 2003.

Holloway's Cavalry was utilized as an escort/bodyguard company for several Confederate Generals. The unit was also known as the Crocheran Light Dragoons, Captain Smith's Escort Company and Holloway's Light Dragoons.

From the "Confederate Veteran" magazine, Volume XXXII, Number 11, November, 1929: "WANTS TO HEAR FROM OLD COMRADES - J.T. Webster writes from Fort Worth, Tex., Box 74, Polytechnic: "I enlisted at Pleasant Hill, Ala., early in the fall of 1861, in R.W. Smith's company of cavalry, made up of volunteers from Wetumpka to Mobile, along the Alabama River. After the battle of Shiloh, E. M. Holloway became our captain and continued in command to the close of the war. We were taken by General Braxton Bragg for his escort, or couriers, for battle of Shiloh, and continued as such during the time he commanded the Tennessee Army, then with Gen. Joseph E. Johnston in his campaign from Dalton to Atlanta; then with Gen. John B. Hood in the battles around Atlanta and his ill-fated campaign into Tennessee; then again with General Joseph E. Johnston, who we followed into North Carolina and surrendered with him at Greensboro, April 26, 1865. I was in all campaigns and battles of the Tennessee Army from Shiloh to the surrender. I should be glad to hear from anyone who served with me in this command"

She was born Abt. 1832 in AL, and died 19 Jan 1925 in ?.

Notes for Clement C. Anderton:
?In August 1857, Clement and Ellen Anderton sold 120 acres of Blount County land to William R. Jones. Sometime before the 1860 census, Clement married Sarah/Sally Willcutt. It is assumed that Ellen Tidwell Anderton passed away. In 1860, C.C. Anderton lived in Morgan County, Alabama, in an area served by the Ivy Bluff post office. He was a 24 year-old wheel wright born in Alabama. He owned no real estate, but his personal property was worth \\$100. Living in his household were Sarah, a 25 year-old housewife; James M., age 5; and Rebecca C., age 1. All were born in Alabama. Heads of adjacent households were James B. Anderton and Thomas M. Anderton.

In 1862, Clement Anderton and Thomas M. Anderton of Morgan County gave James B. Anderton of Lawrence County power of attorney to sell land for them. The 240 acres of land, located a few miles south of Oneonta, was sold to R.L. Ingraham of Blount County for \\$1200.

The 1870 census found the Clim Anderton family in Lawrence County, Alabama. At age 34, Clim was a farmer. His household included Sarah Jane, age 38, who was keeping house; James M., age 15; Rebecca, age 11; Louise L., age 8; Mary E., age 6; and William, age 2. All were born in Alabama.

By the time of the 1880 census, the C.C. Anderton family had moved further north to Fayette County, Tennessee. At age 46, C.C. was a farmer. His household included wife Sallie, age 48, housekeeper; daughter Mary, age 16; and three boarders Henry Monroe, age 33; Eliza Monroe, age 9; and Minnie Monroe, age 6. The Andertons were all born in Alabama, as were their parents. Heads of neighboring households were Wm. Cross and Robert Cox.

The Andertons and Coxes settled near Atlanta, Texas before 1920. Descendants of the Andertons say the family also lived in Arkansas before they went to Texas. Sarah died 19 January 1925 in Atlanta, Cass County, Texas. She and Clement C. Anderton had the following children:

i. Rebecca Caldonia Anderton was born in Alabama 31 August 1859. She married Robert T. Daniel Cox 6 September 1874. Robert was born 26 September 1853. He was the son of Roderick Cox and Elsie Nichols. Robert Cox was listed in the 1880 census as head of a household in Fayette County, Tennessee. He was a 32 year-old farmer. His household included wife Rebecca, age 31, housekeeper; son Alfred, age 2; daughter Rosa, born August 1879; servant Eliza Nixon, age 18; and mother Elsey Cox, age 75. The census recorded that all the household members were born in Tennessee except Elsey who was born in Alabama. Heads of neighboring households were A.J. Phillips and C.C. Anderton. Robert died 30 June 1926 in Atlanta, Cass County, Texas. He was buried 30 June 1926 in Atlanta, Cass County, Texas, Laws Cemetery. Rebecca died May 1931 in Atlanta, Cass County, Texas.

ii. Eliza Anderton was born 1861. She married Mr. Nixon before 1880.

iii. Mary Ellen Anderton was born in Alabama 1864. She married Will Bowden.

iv. William Anderton was born in Alabama 1868." by Louvenia Carter
