William Anderton born 1842(late 0f York W.Aust) was the only child of Thomas Anderton and Elizabeth Anderton (nee Butler)They were married in Preston Lanc in 1828.(they took 14 years to have William) Williams father Thomas Anderton born 30 May 1804 was a convectioner and grocer and shows up in the 18881 census as retired and still alive living at 9 scotland Terrace Preston He obviously lost his first wife and remarried to Margaret Ormanby and had two daughters Elizabeth Anderton (born 1863 and Margaret Anderton (Born 1869)Both girls born in Preston He was having children at 65 years of age.It should be noted that his second wife was Margaret and her age was about the same as his son William, which may have created the myth that William was married prior to transportation to Australia ( I can find no record of Williams marriage in the U.K.)

Thomas was christened on 30 May 1804 at St Marys church in Blackbun U.K. His parents were listed as John Anderton and Betty Anderton (nee Taylor)
