The earliest that James Anglin (Anglen) was found in any of the English colonies was when he was living in Augusta County, Virginia bordering the west side of Albemarle County. He was in the valley of the Cowpasture River at the mouth of the smaller river flowing into the Cowpasture. At that time the smaller river was called Anglen's Run but it is now called Benson's Run. The area is now in the southeastern area of Highland County
