Barbara,
I'd be glad to have a copy of whatever you have. I don't have the information with me now but when I get a chance I'll scan and email you what I have. I'm not even sure who originally wrote a lot of it but it talks of the history of steam ships on the Hudson. Apparently, Robert Annett was a major steam boat captain in the early 1800's. I found him in the 1850 census with the occupation "Proprietor of Ferry."
Robert's daughter Hanna, born 2/24/1828, married my ancestor Washington Hawes who was himself a steamboat captain. His father, George Hawes was apparently either a competitor or friend of Robert Annett in some way.
If your James was born 1813 he could possibly be a son of Robert.
Dan
