Frank Henry Appel obituary submitted
Frank Henry Appel, the son of Tony and Anna Jacoby Appel, was born on February 13, 1915 in Iona, Minnesota. He grew up on the family farm and attended country school. Frank was united in marriage to Dorothy Drealan on September 4, 1946 in Minneapolis, MN. Following their marriage, they farmed near Tyler, MN until 1957 and then farmed in the Fulda and Iona areas until their retirement in 1982. They moved into Fulda and did upholstering work from their home. Dot passed away on August 31, 2002. In October 2003 he moved into the Maple Wood assisted living in Fulda. Frank entered the Sunset Cottage Hospice Home in Worthington, MN on December 26, 2007 and passed away there on Saturday, January 12, 2008 at the age of 92. He was a member of St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. Frank enjoyed fishing, raising flowers and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his five children and their spouses, Shirley and Gary Miller of Pengilly, MN, Kay Graber and Pete Redinius of Estherville, IA, Dennis and Deb Appel of, Queen Creek, AZ, Mark Appel of Fulda and Tom and Marlene Appel of Ashland, NE; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and three very special nieces, Reggie Halberg, Judy Siefert and Karen Appel. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Dorothy, four brothers and three sisters.
Funeral Services at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church, Fulda, MN on Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at 10:30 AM with the Fr. Bob Horihan officiating. The organist is Dana Hogan. The soloist is Sheila Crowley. The pallbearers are his grandchildren, Amy Burmeister, Cory Burmeister, T.J. Graber, Randy Appel, Heather Appel, Sheena VanOrnum, Melissa Crisp and Jessica Appel. Interment will be at St. Gabriel’s Cemetery, Fulda, MN.
