Oh my gosh, I can't believe that I may have finally found someone who can give me some information about my great grandfather Edwin H. (Smyth) Smith. Is Elma's middle name May? Was she born in Midland, MI? Did she have a sister Nellie Ridell and a brother Glenn Smith? My mom corresponded with Pat Apperson and she sent my mom pictures of her beautiful home in Portland. My mom, Ruth Smith Manwell, was Glenn Smith's daughter. My mom died in 1988. I remember my mom talking about Aunt Elma. My great grandfather was born in Barnstaple, Devon, I believe. He was married to Sarah Wilsie, who was from New Brunswick, Canada. I'm interested in knowing if my great grandfather was actually born in Barnstaple because I can't find him on the 1851 Barnstaple census. The Edwin H. Smith I did find was not him. Do you know what Edwin's middle name was? I would love to finally find out some information. Because you mentioned Pat Apperson I know the Elma you're talking about was my grandfather's sister.

Thank you so much for responding. I'm really excited and hope to hear from you soon.

Sincerely,

Nancy Grice
