Heinrich (or Henry) Appel (or Apple)
Posted by: Bill Hilton Jr. (ID *****8809) Date: April 14, 2002 at 12:36:12

Seeking info on Heinrich (or Henry) Appel (or Apple), b. 18 April 1804, d. 2 Feb 1886, buried in Mascoutah Cem, St. Clair Co., IL.

First wife Catherine ??; second wife Christina SOMMERS (?).

Christina was the widow of Michael Dressler, for whom she bore eight children, including Gottfried Jacob (Fritz) Dressler. Henry Appel married Christina on 18 Jun 1850 in St. Clair Co., IL

Does anyone know whether Henry Appel is listed in the Ohio or Illinois census in 1860?

We're trying to determine whether Fritz Dressler served as a drummer boy for the Union army but keep hitting dead ends. If we knew where Fritz and his stepfather lived in 1860 we may be able to move forward.

Thanks in advance.

BILL
