Applegarths in England

My great-great-grandmother was Catherine Applegarth, Robert's youngest daughter. She married George Stothard in Sheffield in 1855 and they later moved south to Welwyn, Herts where George was stationmaster at Welwyn for a while.
They had several children - George Barker, Alfred William, Carrie Mary and Kate Helen plus a few more that didn't survive to adulthood.
Catherine's sister, Caroline Applegarth, also joined them in Welwyn where she ran a local school. At one time she employed Anne van Gogh (Vincent's sister) as an assistant at the school. Caroline never married.
George Barker Stothard built Welwyn Post Office in 1892.
Alfred William was my great-grandfather.
I have no information as yet about Mary Ann, Sophia or Robert. If anyone else can shed any light, please contact me.
Christine Shephard.
