Andrew studied law and was admitted to practice just before the Civil War.He enlisted on July 9, 1861 in the 4th Independent Cavalry where he served as Sergeant, being discharged on July 16, 1864.He re-enlisted and was commissioned Captain and was mustered out on Sept. 28, 1865.He began practice of law in Huntsville, AL in 1866 and the following year was elected to the Constitutional Convention under the Reconstruction Acts called to frame a new constitution for the state.In 1868, he was appointed Lt. Govenor in the Reconstruction Government of Alabama and presided over the Alabama Senate during 1868-69.He was still in office at the time of his death.In 1879, Lucinda and her 2 children left Mobile and moved to Ripley, Brown Co., OH.
He died of consumption.
