Lucijane,
Thanks for your kind words. It was a bit of a chore to throw the ancestry together, but I'm quite glad someone can benefit from it. Based on your grammar and vocabulary, you appear quite well educated; I don't say this simply because you complemented my work!
As for your question, what you are asking has been pondered by philosophers from before Socrates' time to the present day. The simple response would be "I don't create species policy, I just report the results", but that wouldn't be adequate. Looking at it from a strictly physiological viewpoint, the one thing humans do well is reproduce and pass on the lessons to their offspring (in an idealist way of speaking; I'm not a student of philosophy!). In that respect, maybe our ancestors were simply doing their genetic job. Now let me answer your question with another question: would it be unique NOT to have spawned a new generation? For whatever external justification (dynastic continuation, creation of more farm help, or simple desire to create a child), the norm for our species is indeed to make more of ourselves. I really don't believe our ancestors (at least within the past 7,000 years) were all that different from us; maybe more tolerant of parasites, but their aspirations paralled ours. I'm not talking about consumeristic aspirations that is so prevalent in modern society, but to live a good, honorable life and those things connected with it. This is still not an adequate response to your question, I realize. I suppose that the response would in the end depend on the individual's beliefs. Sorry, I'll not be much help in figuring this one out.
I have additional Appleton info reaching into the 1800's. Let me know at what point you find yourself, and I'll check my database. Also, I've added more earlier generations and connections since I posted this lineage. You're welcome to whatever I have.
Scott
