Hey Dena Thanks, this pot needed stirring! Ok. Wiley’s listed slaves in 1850 are all female. Shadrick is not among them. I suspected that Wiley was Shadrach’s father (following the lead at Ms. Harris’ website; she noted no sources), not the last slave holder, and given the fact that the two youngest children listed in 1850 are Mulatto made we wonder how they got that coloration, particularly in view of the nineteen year old black female on the scene meant that Wiley was……well……still at it. Yes, Wiley and Susan are in Thomas County, GA and, I figure, Wiley died prior to 1860. Oh, let’s not even go into enumerator errors!! Yes, that could very well be Shadrach; 1-35-M-B, 1860, Louisiana; (Malachi Hudson Stalling). Thank you!! I’ll have to go back and ascertain if Malachi ties into Wiley. Comfort? I think you’ve nailed it!! I’ve promised my daughter we will make a trip to Jersey and check out the environs thereabouts in a thoroughly genealogical manner. She has confirmed that Elvester figures into her family. Dena, what can I say? YOU DA WOMAN!! Thanks again. Preston Notify Administrator about this message?
