My Great Grandfather is listed in Civil War Soldiers, Parker's Cavalry Troop Bradley County Arkansas. Was this like a home guard unit that stayed behind to guard the families left behind? I noticed the ages of the listed gentlemen to be in their 40's-50's-60's altho there were some 16 & 17 year old fellows listed. Would they have been considered as enlisted men in the Civil War or as an honorary unit? Any information appreciated, "thank you" in advance.
